Mission:
The mission of the Annie Penn Community Trust is to provide financial support to programs and initiatives which improve the health, wellness, and quality of life of the people in Rockingham County, with emphasis on the Reidsville area.
Funding Priorities (in order of priority):
1. Wellness, with emphasis on education and prevention
2. Access to health services
3. General well being, recognizing that environmental and recreational factors directly impact the quest for a healthier and more productive community.
It is within this framework of mission and funding priorities that the Trust intends to conduct its grantmaking activities.
Criteria:
1. Strategic Focus - The Trust will consider any application which meets the basic criteria for applicants and projects set forth in this Grantmaking Policy. Projects that make long-lasting and beneficial changes in the health and quality of life of the people in Rockingham County are the Trust's priority. From time to time, the Trust may be a proactive rather than
a reactive grantmaker.
2. Sustainability - The Trust considers itself primarily a funding source for new programs, as well as a catalyst for their development and long-term viability. The self-sustainability of projects is a key consideration. The Trust may also consider funding for ongoing operations.
3. Collaboration - The Trust prioritizes those projects involving
collaboration in matters of common concern to maximize effectiveness.
Grantmaking:
Not-for-profit organizations (or coalitions thereof), government agencies, and schools are among the organizations from which the Trust would normally seek proposals. Requests from for-profit organizations, organizations for projects which promote a political or religious agenda, or those seeking political contributions will not be considered.
